Les Series en Helvetie

I am just back from a fantastic bit of 'euro-leafing' to Switzerland, for a joint event organized by the French club - Les Temps Des Series and the Land Rovers of Switzerland club. We stayed on a Swiss Army barracks, which gave us access to one of their off road training areas, and had permission to use their land for green laning, and also had permission from the local mayor to use the beautiful mountain areas for green laning too, which are out of bounds to all but farm traffic.

However, for me, just the journey there is a huge part of the fun of 'euro-leafing' and I had a great round trip on about 1300 miles, and the old series one never missed a beat on its first trip abroad - so I was dead chuffed about that!

Just back from an excellent weekend at the Birmabright Weekend in the Czech Republic.

It was a great event - although a long way to travel, but well worth the effort of getting there, and great to meet so many other nationalities.

After a long, slow trip on the Friday we arrived at the campsite. They were very friendly and the facilities were really good too. Then Keith (aka Sweaty Sock) turned up and came and joined us in our tent. We had a good evening just sitting chatting and chilling out, ignoring the rain that was tapping on the tent roof.

We were up early the following morning, with the sun shining, had bacon butties and then we were off. We did a couple of lanes that Keith had done before. On one particular corner of one of the lanes, the rear drivers wheel found some very loose mud and it slid into a big hole as you can see below.

LandyTowners go laning in the Peak District

Members of LandyTown have taken to the Peak District for a pleasant day of green laning.

Plenty of lanes were packed in to the day by Robert Dove and Mat13, who led a group each; one featuring the long wheelbase vehicles, including two Range Rovers and a Defender 110, and the short wheelbase vehicles, which were exclusively 90s.

The weather was typically English, with bursts of sunshine partnered with drizzles of rain, but nothing that could dampen the mood of the day, or spoil the amazing views on show.

Overall, the day was a huge success, with everybody thoroughly enjoying themselves and the lanes driven.

Sweaty in Strata Florida

So, the trip was to get Mrs Sweatysock a bit accustomed to greenlaning, camping and just being thrown about in the LR90. Thought therefore would start with Strata and surrounding lanes. Great day, weather and nothing mental...such that Mrs Sock enjoyed the day and may well just release more funds to keep the 90 ticking along...happy days. Few mild photos for your entertainment...and for a starter she did so well!
ps. trouble when your missus comes with you is you have to wash
